Wicked Angel Cafe is a new name reflecting the new ownership of Il Espresso Cafe in Darlinghurst. We love our 15-year history, the regulars who come every day and have cheered us on as we refurbish their favourite venue, as well as vibrant travellers and local workers meeting us for the first time. We are evolving and creating something fresh, while cherishing and maintaining those deep roots in the community. 

 

New owners, Lorel and Clayton, bring a unique blend of opposite perspectives (scientist and artist), and are slowly introducing a contrast of decadent, homemade desserts (the best brownie bites in the world, in our opinion) and healthy selections.

Lorel, a former scientist, is the Australian head of Right2EatHealthy, an international movement championing regenerative organic agriculture, and hopes to raise awareness of the power of our dollars and choices for improving our health and regenerating our planet. She is over the moon about being able to provide a premium, free-trade organic espresso (Blend 1735) from the Sydney-based and family-owned Di Stefano roasters. It is a delicious, consistent roast and already generating rave reviews from our customers, whether they love long blacks or lattes.

Clayton was a landscaper, a security guard, and is now mastering his barista skills! He is a painter and sculptor with degrees from COFA and SCA, and believes in supporting young artists in their careers. His first exhibition was at a cafe.

Together, we co-write fantasy and paranormal novels as Author Lorel Clayton.
